The drastic growth in Virtual Telehealth adoption during the pandemic of COIVD-19 becomes a case study for everyone to know how a crisis can trigger, how it’s overcoming the barriers to the new technology’s adoption and process improvements. Undoubtedly, this situation is one of the greatest challenges we’ve faced in this era, all the issues and solutions apply to the information technology implementation projects and planing.

Telehealth becomes the most acceptable changes in terms of the medical sector worldwide, it has been shown to increase access to healthcare, and technology has improved and become easier to use. It includes the use of video-based communication with effective and affordable healthcare services. For years, medical terms have been lagging behind in technologies as compared to other industries. But now it seems too far way better for patients who really need this information and communication.

For the past couple of months, we refer to it as a “COVID Time” due to the new ideas and urgency of decision making has been led to positive change. Ones someone said, “genie is out of the bottle” that means in this hard time the adoption of telehealth and virtual Clinic care is really helpful to the patients and doctors. However, some insurance companies and patients experienced some of the lower-cost models. It requires medical doctors who adapt their services from the traditional in-person interactions with the patients via a virtual model. There are various barriers to the adaption of telehealth like telecommunication, service delivery changes, and many more.

The new normal adoption was somewhat dramatic but it has to plane step-wise for a more efficient healthcare system. Some of the factors are coming out about telehealth and telemedicine which are lack of awareness of telehealth offerings, insurance coverage, and poor infrastructure. It can be leveraged in multiple ways. The Healthcare system can leverage telehealth as an emergency and urgent care visits.

Patients can connect with their physicians or family doctor remotely by operating the mobile device or any other internet-connected device and talk regarding their immediate concerns such as unwanted stomach ache or skin rashes to avoid a trip for an urgent care. This positive change can prove the reducing results of new cases, the number of in-person visits, and lower the cost of care.

Preparing for the new normal in telehealthcare, the Canadian healthcare system may look like after the pandemic is over and it is very important to consider how and when the strategies we have implemented during the time of COVID-19.

For healthcare systems, the potential of virtual care is very embracing as medical people or physicians have to understand that telehealth is not just a substitute, it is a concrete foundation for virtual care, telemedicine, and patient information have to be accessible in real-time. This is the real-time resistance to improve their outcomes, management of population health, and efficient technology. Business rolls out and works with the telemedicine companies and also they need insurance companies for coverage of tools and resources available for them because our patients and our genuine care deserve nothing less.
